Research

The important scientific findings of the Central Botanical Garden in the last decade are as follows:

- A collection of 27 new trees, shrubs, herbaceous plants, 41 new frescoes, 14 dusk, 15 autumn and 400 rose varieties were created from native flora and seedlings (2004);

- Morphogenesis, structural signs, adaptation possibilities of 19 plants were studied and cultivation methods were developed (2005);

- dixotomic designation key for fruiting varieties (2006);

- Patent for the "Contract of the Century", "Yellow Bride" and "Nazpari" rose varieties grown in the Central Botanical Garden was purchased according to Order # 96 of April 4, 2008 of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan;

- Characteristics of growth and development of 5 species of trees and shrubs that have been reintroduced in situ were compared with ex situ conditions (2009);

- Methods of cultivation of morphogenesis, structural signs, including for the initial period of ontogenesis, were developed in the introduction of 5 species of plants (2009);

- Five varieties of Kargosgan species (Gladiolus halophilus Boiss.et Heldr., Schuraner cranberry, Gatroviolacea Boiss - dark-purple crow, G.communis - ordinary crown, G.imbricatus L. - brick currant, G. italicus Mill- Italian cabbage) was created gene pool of planting and spraying materials (2010);

- A collection of 3 rare species of Albanian wildflowers (Bellevalia albana Woronow), Fomin wild boar (Bellevalia fomini Woronow) and Stylish rodent bulb (Muscari elegantulum Schchian) was created in connection with the study of the biodiversity of the Republic (2011);

- Phenogenetic differentiation of pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) populations of the Caucasus and adjacent regions has been studied (2012);

- The free-type status of the elder candle (Pinus eldarica Medw.) Has been proven by the study of the letter-digital politomic assignment key based on the results obtained from the study of taxonomic, biomorphological and radiological features of the Kandil species (2013).

For the enrichment and study of Azerbaijan’s plant resources, the preservation and protection of the gene pool of rare and endangered plants growing in various ecological conditions of the republic and brought from foreign countries, the implementation of necessary measures to transform the Garden’s territory into a recreational area with unique nature for the leisure of the capital’s residents and guests, the promotion of achievements in botany and ecology, the establishment of plant species and green areas in the Garden’s territory, their maintenance, and the organization of works for the protection and preservation of these plants.
