Laboratory of biochemistry food and medicinal plants

HISTORY

The laboratory was established in 2000. The first head of the laboratory was the corresponding member of ANAS Oruj Veli oglu Ibadli. Once upon a time in the laboratory Doctor of Agriculture Sciences K.S.Asadov worked. One of the most important issues is the study of rare and endangered plants, their preservation for future generations. Many of the plants in our flora are now in danger of extinction. To eliminate this threat, a collection area of rare plants has been created in the Central Botanical Garden. Extensive research work is carried out in the laboratory to study, introduce, reintroduce, protect and create a gene pool collection of biodiversity of rare and endangered plants. At present, the laboratory is headed by b.ü.f.d. associate professor. Zeynalov Yusif Mukhtar is in charge. In 2023, the name of the laboratory was changed to "Biochemistry of food and medicinal plants".

SCIENTIFIC DIRECTION

MAIN ACTIVITIES

Study, introduction, reproduction, protection and creation of gene pool of biodiversity, bioecological features of rare, medicinal, essential oil, nectar, technically important plants

CURRENT RESEARCH

At present, research is being carried out to certify the existing collection and to study the flora of Azerbaijan in some situational and ex situ conditions of some rare plants of medicinal, essential and industrial importance.
